We have now closed voting on this contest. Find our latest story here.

And just like that, we’re down to eight.

The State’s 2022 Barbecue Bracket got off to a running start earlier this week. We are asking our readers to vote for the best barbecue restaurant in the area. We want y’all to base your votes on the overall quality of the restaurant — which includes main courses, sides, sauces, fixin’s and desserts.

The bracket kicked off Feb. 1 with 16 entrants, identified by staff members at The State as some of their favorites in the area. It’s not a scientific poll, off course, but readers were then asked to make their top choices among that initial group of 16.

The field has now been whittled down to eight BBQ joints. The field will later narrow to four, then a final two before a champion is crowned.

You have until 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 6 to cast your votes in Round Two: The Tasty 8. Stay tuned for Round Three: The Flavorful 4, which will begin on Tuesday, Feb. 8.
