SC restaurant makes Southern Living’s list as one of the South’s best wing spots
A Greenville restaurant has been listed as one of the best places for wings in the South by a major magazine.
Southern Living on Tuesday released its 20 Best Spots for Chicken Wings in the South list, and among the restaurants named was Greenville’s Local Cue. It was the only South Carolina restaurant to make the list.
Local Cue is at 30 Orchard Park Drive in Greenville. That’s about 4 miles east of downtown Greenville, near Haywood Road and Pelham Road. It has been open since 2013.
Southern Living’s list for the best spots for wings was compiled by food and lifestyle expert Matt Moore. It includes restaurants from Louisiana, Georgia, Kentucky, Arkansas and elsewhere in the South.
In his entry about Local Cue, Moore particularly lauded the jumbo smoked wings, and favored the SC Gold BBQ sauce.
“This tangy, slightly sweet, mustard-based barbecue sauce has origins that can be traced back to German immigrants who settled in the area beginning in the 18th century,” Moore wrote. “It’s distinctly different from the vinegar-laden sauces of North Carolina, though Local Cue has one of those, too, which gets amped up with honey and crushed red pepper flakes.”
Aside from wings, Local Cue also offers sandwiches, burgers, wraps, salads, shrimp and grits, appetizers and a host of sides and beverages. The restaurant is open from 11 a.m. until midnight daily.
