A regional restaurant chain has shuttered a location in the food court of Columbia’s most popular mall.

Sub Station II, which has locations across several Southern states, has closed its storefront in the Columbiana Centre mall in the Harbison shopping district northwest of downtown Columbia. The location at 100 Columbiana Circle is listed as “permanently closed” on Google and the signage has been removed from its spot in the mall food court.

The Sub Station II in the Columbiana Centre food court opened in 2024. It was located right next door to the Mr. Cow Korean corn dog spot. Sub Station II has shops in South Carolina, North Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee and Virginia. Among the many other Midlands Sub Station II locations are shops in Irmo, Lexington and Cayce, and Columbia locations on South Main Street, Garners Ferry Road and the Village at Sandhill.

There remain a number of other restaurants in the Columbiana Centre mall’s food court, including Chick-fil-A, Sarku Japan, Charley’s Philly Steaks and several others. There are also restaurants in other parts of the mall, including Starbucks, Red Robin, Dave & Buster’s, and Auntie Anne’s.

The Columbiana Centre mall is a centerpiece in the larger Harbison commercial district just off Interstate 26. The area is lined with restaurants, big box stores, hotels, movie theaters, and other retailers.
