It doesn’t get much more Southern than a cold glass of tea.

Most South Carolinians likely don’t need an excuse to drink one of the state’s most popular beverages on a hot summer day, but there’s an especially good reason today: It’s National Iced Tea Day.

Tea is a staple across the South, but South Carolina’s the only state known for growing it. Down in the low country, the Charleston Tea Garden, the United States’ only large-scale commercial tea operation, uses plants that trace their origins back to the 1700’s.

Columbia has no shortage of options to grab a glass, but a few chains are offering special deals in celebration of the holiday.

Deals and Discounts

McAlstier’s Deli, which has five local locations in the Midlands, is offering up three free tea flavor shots with the purchase of a tea. The deal will run through June 14.

For new users of their app, McAlister’s is also offering one free tea for up to 30 days after joining their rewards program. Both deals require the McAlister’s app.

At Starbucks, you can receive free refills of hot or iced brewed coffee or tea. This deal does not require the app and is actually a permanent offer you can take advantage of whenever you visit Starbucks

If you make a stop at QuikTrip, better known as QT, there are two deals on offer. First, you can get a $1 Pure Leaf Tea with the purchase of a grilled cheese. Second, QT is offering a free big iced tea today only through their rewards program. Both deals require their app.

Finally, Arizona, a well-known national tea brand, is offering a chance to win a free box of Green Tea if you comment “green tea” on their latest Instagram post.
