Columbia chefs participate in Charleston Wine + Food festival
Five local chefs are participating in sold out events at the Charleston Wine + Food festival next week.
If you were lucky enough to get tickets for the Big Daddy Bourbon event at Proof on March 2, then you will be able to imbibe the brown water during a bourbon workshop with Proof owner Craig Nelson, Columbia’s Kristian Niemi (of Rosso Trattoria and Bourbon Columbia), and Preston Van Winkle of the Old Rip Van Winkle Distillery.
As of this writing, tickets were still available for A Bourbon Affair: Brown Water + Smoke, 2-4 p.m. March 4 at The Cedar Room at The Cigar Factory. The $100/person ticket brings you bourbon-inspired cocktails and tastings presented by bourbon experts, small bites and, of course, cigars. Participating Columbia chefs include Niemi, Travis Rayle (Rosso Trattoira), Frank Bradley (Bourbon Columbia) and Todd Woods (The Oak Table).
Rounding out the weekend is the sold-out Gospel Brunch, March 6 at Ashley Hall. The Oak Table’s Sous Chef Charles Stricklin will be preparing a portion of the family-style feast with brunch cocktails and foot-tappin’ revival music to boost your spirits.
