Faries named Executive Chef at Nonnah’s
In sign that the restaurant may be moving beyond its reputation as the place to go for the best desserts in Columbia, Nonnah’s has named Blake Faries as the new Executive Chef.
A well-known name in the culinary scene in Columbia, Faries was most recently the Executive Chef at Saluda’s, in Five Points. According to a press release, Faries envisions creating “a seasonally inspired classic southern menu with Mediterranean and Asian influence. The beauty of living in Columbia is it’s centrally located, which means we can harness all that South Carolina has to offer. From heirloom grains to wild-caught and sustainably-raised seafood, Columbia has many local producers of the best ingredients. I plan on incorporating much of the region’s finest into our new menu.”
Nonnah’s owner, Shannon Syrbe said, “We have been searching for someone who could elevate the food and really connect it to our desserts and to the local culinary cuisine. We found the perfect match with the addition of Blake.”
Faries will join Executive Pastry Chef Galen Beverly at Nonnah’s and a new menu is set to debut in early April. Nonnah’s is located at 923 Gervais Street, (803) 779-9599, nonnahs.com
