Columbia outdoors calendar, Dec. 13 and beyond

CROOKED CREEK PARK: Candy Cane Hunt 3:30-4:30 p.m. Saturday, 1098 Old Lexington Highway, Chapin. Santa and his elves will hide candy canes along the trail of the park for children to find. Participants ages 2-8 can bring baskets or bags to collect treats. $2 per person. (803) 345-6181

RIVERBANKS ZOO AND GARDEN: Homeschool Monday about weather warriors 10 a.m. Monday. Event for children ages 5-13 will focus on how animals survive cold winter temperatures. Cost $5 per participant plus general admission. (803) 779-8717; www.riverbanks.org

RIVERBANKS ZOO AND GARDEN:Winter Zoo Camp 9-4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Children ages 5-10 can learn about nature’s mysteries. RIVERBANKS ZOO AND GARDEN: Lights before Christmas starts 5 p.m. nightly through Dec. 30. Event will feature more than 1 million lights, marshmallow roasting, a bonfire and visits with Santa. $10 for adults and $8 for children 2-12. Tickets online at riverbanks.org

SALUDA SHOALS PARK: Holiday Lights on the River, 6-10 p.m., will run through Dec. 31, will feature more than 1 million holiday lights on the river on a two-mile loop of the park.
