CONGAREE NATIONAL PARK: Nature discovery walk 9:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Harry Hampton Visitor Center. Learn about plant and animal life in the Congaree River floodplain. Walk is fully accessible to strollers and wheelchairs. Free. (803) 776-4396. nps.gov/cong
CONGAREE NATIONAL PARK: Ranger program 2-2:45 p.m. Saturday at the visitor center’s porch. Participants can join park rangers to learn about a variety of topics and watch cultural demonstrations.
CONGAREE NATIONAL PARK: Big Tree Hike 1-4 p.m. Saturday starting at the visitor center. Naturalist John Cely will lead participants on a hike off the maintained trails. Participants encouraged to bring waterproof footwear, water, snacks and insect repellant.
THE FARMER’S SHED: Seminar on raising chickens 11 a.m. Saturday, 2514 Augusta Highway, Lexington. Register at (803) 996-9122.
RIVERBANKS ZOO AND GARDEN: Homeschool Monday: Captivating Cats 10 a.m. Monday. Children ages 5-13 can learn why big cats are on top of the food chain. Cost is $5 per child with one adult, plus general admission. Register at riverbanks.org. (803) 779-8717
