Mr. and Mrs. Carter Whaley Scott were married at 6 o’clock in the evening July 30, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church in Highlands, North Carolina.

The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Reba Prince Griffith and Mr. Richard Magrill Griffith, Jr., both of Atlanta. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Charles Scott of Columbia.

Mrs. Scott, the former Anne Callaway Griffith, is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Blake Mitchell Prince of St. Matthews and the late Mr. and Mrs. Richard Magrill Griffith Sr. of Elloree.

The bride attended Druid Hills High School in Atlanta and graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Arts in speech communications. She earned her Juris Doctor from the Florida State College of Law. Currently she is an assistant state attorney for the 2nd Judicial Circuit for Leon County, Florida.

Mr. Scott is the grandson of Dr. Louise Tinsley Scott and the late Robert Claude Scott Jr. of Florence and the late Mr. and Mrs. Marion Leonard Whaley of Columbia.

He attended Hammond School in Columbia and graduated from Dartmouth College with a Bachelor of Arts in government. He earned his Juris Doctor from the Florida State College of Law. He is an attorney with the firm of Searcy Denney Scarola Barnhart and Shipley, PA in Tallahassee, Florida.

The bride was escorted and given in marriage by her father.

Margaret Lenora Nolen of Tampa, Florida, served as the bride’s maid of honor and the groom’s sister, Jordan Scott Medley of Columbia, served as matron of honor. Other attendants were the groom’s sister-in-law, Darby Kerrigan Scott of Tallahassee, Florida; Brittany Ann Burgess of Homewood, Alabama; Natalia Prada-Rey Cooper of Nashville, Tennessee; Christine Michelle Cornwell of Charlotte, North Carolina; Chelsey Marie Dowell of Alpharetta, Georgia; Meryl Kennedy Farr of Mer Rouge, Louisiana; Jessica Michelle Grant of Atlanta; Katie Elizabeth Read of New York; and Lauren Del Thompson of Birmingham, Alabama.

The father of the groom served as his son’s best man. The groomsmen were the groom’s brother, Robert Marion Scott, Michael David Blank and Matthew David MacNamara, all of Tallahassee, Florida; the groom’s brother-in-law, David Craig Medley of Columbia; Christopher Joseph Daniels of Atlanta; Robert Hale DaSilva of Charlotte, North Carolina; Tyler Ari Gross of Pensacola, Florida; Steven LaGrande Harvin of Greenville; Lucas Kilpatrick Hussey of Seattle, Washington; George Brock Magruder of Orlando, Florida and John William Spradling of Stanford, California.

Ushers were Christopher Davis Parker and Christopher Laurence Silberman, both of Washington, and Ryan Cole Springer of Atlanta.

Flower girls were Ellison Elizabeth Medley and Tatum Rose Scott, both nieces of the groom. Ring bearers were Cannon Smith Medley, nephew of the groom, and Elton Joseph Farr.

The wedding ceremony was officiated by the Rev. Emily Wilmarth and assisted by Dr. Carol Pitts. Music was provided by violist Erin Pitts, sister of the bride, and organist Angie Jenkins. A reception was held at Wildcat Cliffs Country Club.

The couple enjoyed a wedding trip to St. Lucia and are currently residing in Tallahassee, Florida.
