Marian Bryce Hanna, Andrew Berks marry

Marian Bryce Hanna of Columbia and Andrew Emil Berks of Charlotte, North Carolina, were united in marriage May 13 at Union United Methodist Church in Irmo. The Rev. Stephen Taylor officiated the 6 o’clock ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. King C. “Rusty” Hanna Jr. and Mrs. Marian Kinon Hanna of Irmo. She is the granddaughter of the late Judge Marion H. “Son” Kinon and the late Mrs. Reba Anne Bryce Kinon of Dillon and the late Mr. King C. Hanna Sr. and the late Mrs. Dora Elizabeth Black Hanna of Laurens. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Converse College and a master’s degree from the University of South Carolina, and she is employed with Lexington-Richland School District Five at Nursery Road Elementary School.

The groom is the son of Mr. David Evan Berks and Mrs. Nancy Berks. He is the grandson of the late Mr. Emil Berks and Mrs. Shirley Elaine Berks of Tamarac, Florida, and the late Mr. Herbert Alexander Herzfeld and Mrs. Ilsa Herzfeld. A graduate of Coastal Carolina University, he is employed with State Farm in Fort Mill.

The bride was escorted and given in marriage by her father. Soloist Mrs. Michelle Cochcroft and organist Mrs. Joey Rothfuss provided music.

Matron of honor was Mrs. Chelsea Laughter Crumpler of Columbia. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Lindsey White Beacham of Irmo; Mrs. Kristin Seawell Benefield of Spartanburg; Mrs. Claire McCoy Born and Mrs. Bea Serpas Powell, both of Greenville; Ms. Emily Margaret Burns of Sumter; Mrs. Elizabeth Rodelsperger Curry of Charleston; Ms. Anna Lesley Sharp of Rock Hill; and Ms. Erin Katherine Smith of Columbia.

Best man was Mr. Michael John McShane of Christiansburg, Virginia. Groomsmen were Mr. Kyle Cameron Benefield of Spartanburg; Mr. Kyle Alan Faris of Columbia; Mr. Daniel Gerard Gillian of Chicago; Mr. Steven Thomas Hafner of Myrtle Beach; Mr. King Cegil Hanna III of Irmo; Mr. Matthew Robert Hefflefinger of Waterford, Connecticut; Mr. Christopher Michael Nazarko of Wethersfield, Connecticut; and Mr. Thomas William Schmoegner of East Lyme, Connecticut.

A reception followed at the South Carolina State Museum, and the couple honeymooned in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
