Lindsay Black, Jonathan Hatfield marry

Miss Lindsay Edith Jean Black and Mr. Jonathan Grant Hatfield were united in marriage April 28 at River Road and Jasmine Houses and Gardens in Columbia. Miss Amanda Elliott officiated the 5 o’clock ceremony.

Mr. Gene Springfield provided music, and Miss Crysta Caldwell and Mr. Justin Caldwell performed a vocal duet. Miss Kate Hatfield, sister of the groom, provided ceremony readings. Following the ceremony, the families of the bride and groom hosted a buffet dinner and reception at the Jasmine House. On the eve of the wedding, the bride’s mother hosted a rehearsal dinner at Alodia’s Cucina Italiana in Columbia.

The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Rita Dutton Black and the late Mr. David Moffat Black of Dundee, Scotland, and Columbia. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. Roger Wilbert Dutton and the late Mrs. Edith B. Dutton, both of Norfolk, Virginia, and the late Mr. David M. Black and the late Mrs. Jean Robertson Black of Perth, Scotland.

The groom is the son of Dr. Michael and Mrs. Hollye Hatfield of Harvest, Alabama. He is the grandson of Mr. Wayne and Mrs. Betty Turner Hatfield of Hartford, Alabama, and the late Mr. Aubrey Jackson and Mrs. Bess Hawkins Jackson of Athens, Alabama.

Given in marriage and escorted by her mother, the bride wore an ivory backless A-line applique lace gown featuring a sweetheart neckline, cap sleeves and a scalloped sweep train, complemented by a fingertip scalloped lace-trimmed veil. The bride wore her maternal great-grandmother’s diamond engagement ring and carried a bouquet of white and lavender roses mixed with purple thistles in honor of her late father’s Scottish heritage.

Dr. Lynn Arlene Mandeltort of Lewiston, Maine, a lifelong friend of the bride, served as maid of honor. The flower girl was Miss Lexi Marie Shurn of Irmo. The maid of honor wore an aubergine cocktail-length gown and carried a bouquet of white roses.

The groom’s cousin, Mr. Brooks Hamby of Gilbert, served as best man. Ziggy Black, canine member of the bride’s family, served as ring bearer, and was escorted by Mr. Jeffrey E. Knetzer of Columbia.

The bride is a 2003 graduate of Irmo High School in Columbia. She attended Coker College in Hartsville and graduated from Columbia College with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. She is employed with Autumn Breeze Assisted Living in Gainesville, Georgia, as an activity coordinator.

The groom is a graduate of Greenbrier High School in Evans, Georgia. He attended Augusta Community College in Augusta, Georgia, majoring in history. He is employed with Tractor Supply Company in Cornelia, Georgia, as a store manager.

The couple will reside in Gainesville, Georgia.
