Carrie Lake, Nick Petrus to wed
Robert and Gerdi Lake are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Carolyn Hallman “Carrie” Lake, to Nicholas Kent Petrus, son of Robert and Laura Petrus.
The bride-elect, a resident of Prosperity, is the granddaughter of John and Gerda Hallman and the late Sen. Robert C. Lake and MaryAnne Lake. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Presbyterian College and a doctorate in pharmacy from the Medical University of South Carolina. She is employed as a pharmacist.
The bridegroom-elect, a resident of Charleston, is the grandson of Lois Waggoner and the late Owen Charles Waggoner and the late John Petrus and the late Gerry Petrus. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Clemson University, and he is a student in MUSC’s physician assistant program.
The couple plans a June wedding in Ridgeway.

Q: How did you meet?
A: He was in the Army, and she was in school at MUSC. They met in Charleston.
Q: Tell us about the proposal.
A: Their favorite place to hike is Caesars Head (State Park) in Greenville. The weekend it snowed in January 2016, they went hiking. Nick proposed on Bald Rock with a beautiful snow-covered backdrop.
