Married on July 28, 1957, in St. Pauls, North Carolina, Henry and Sue Warren have called Columbia home for more than 41 years. They are active members of Kilbourne Park Baptist Church and beloved by many family members and friends.

Henry served in the U.S. Army for 22 years, completing two tours of duty in Vietnam and reaching the rank of command sergeant major. His children and grandchildren enjoy hearing all his tales of this chapter of life. Following his service, Henry began a career in premium financing, which provided more stories to share and allowed him to win friends throughout South Carolina and Georgia. He retired from Premium Finance Services in 2014.

After marrying, Sue was a stay-at-home mom to three. While Henry completed his military obligations, she weathered countless storms, bravely awaiting her husband’s return, frequently wrote him to lift spirits, raised three rambunctious children, and even traveled to Hawaii once to reunite with Henry during leave. After the kids began college, Sue returned to the workforce as a library aide and teacher’s aide at Mill Creek Elementary until the early 1990s.

The Warrens are the proud parents of three children: Tommy and his wife, Christy, of Greenville; Jeff and his wife, Sue, of Ellicott City, Maryland; and Dawn and her husband, Eddie Allison, of Hopkins. They also have four grandchildren – Kelly, Sarah, HT, and Anne.

Granddaughter Kelly writes, “We all love you so much and are so grateful for your sacrifices, support, leadership, prayers, lessons instilled and more all these years. As we’ve watched you, we’ve learned from the way you love the Lord and each other. Through highs and lows, you’ve taught us how to press on and trust God. Thank you for all you’ve taught in word and action. Congratulations!”
