Frances Green, Walker Black marry

Frances Eugenia Green and Benjamin Walker Black, both of Greenville, were united in marriage Aug. 5 at Belin Memorial United Methodist Church in Murrells Inlet. The Rev. Dr. B. Mike Alexander and the Rev. Jim Ridenhour officiated the 6 o’clock ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ellie Woodrow Green Jr. of Lynchburg. She is the granddaughter of Mr. James Carradine Epps Jr. and the late Mrs. Frances Shellhouse Epps of Columbia and the late Mr. and Mrs. Ellie Woodrow Green of Lynchburg. She earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Clemson University, and she is employed with Greenville Health System as a registered nurse.

The groom is the son of Lesley Reams Moore and Robert David Black, both of Greenville. He is the grandson of Mr. James Furman Black and the late Mrs. Alma Crowe Black of Anderson and the late Mr. and Mrs. Julian Adair Moore of Front Royal, Virginia. He earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Georgia, and he is employed with ZF Transmissions as a financial analyst.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents. Organist Evan Wesley Currie, and cousin of the bride, and trumpeter James Canty provided music.

Maid of honor was Miss Mary Suzanne Green, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Miss Margaret Wilds Harkness; Mrs. Elizabeth Proctor Miller; Mrs. Adair Black Patterson, the groom’s sister; Miss Virginia Cochran Reed; Mrs. Julia Lawson Taylor; and Mrs. Claire Peyton Webber. Kaitlyn Anne Madden, cousin of the bride, was flower girl.

Best man was the groom’s father. Groomsmen were Mr. Taylor Lauderdale Cook; Mr. Ellie Weston Green, brother of the bride; Mr. James Durham Hill; Mr. Brooks Thomas Patterson; Mr. Lewis Robert Stover; and Mr. Gregory Phillip Vaughan Jr.

Greeters were Virginia Hirschey Cook and Caroline Evelyn Calder, friends of the couple, and the bride’s cousins Miss Peyton Raye Langston, Miss Taylor Isabelle Langston, and Miss Mary Elizabeth Morris.

A reception followed at Wachesaw Plantation Club.

After their honeymoon in Antigua, the couple will reside in Greenville.
