Brittany Way, John Mimms marry

Brittany Lee Way and John Weber Mimms were united in marriage Dec. 9 at First Presbyterian Church in Florence. The Rev. Christopher John Handley officiated the 6 o’clock ceremony. A reception followed at the Florence Country Club.

The bride, who was escorted by her father, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Robert Way of Florence. She is the granddaughter of Diane Elizabeth Ross and the late Mr. Michael James Ross of Pasadena, Maryland, and of Mrs. Roy Dobson Cromwell of Flagler Beach, Florida, and the late Mr. Robert Victor Way of Murrells Inlet. She is a graduate of the University of South Carolina with a bachelor’s degree in nursing and is employed with McLeod Regional Medical Center as a registered nurse.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Edward Lawson of Darlington and Mr. and Mrs. John Christopher Mimms of Cheraw. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Donald Cornell Ely of Myrtle Beach and the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Marion Mimms Jr. of Bishopville. He is a graduate of The Citadel with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and is employed with Johnson Controls as a production supervisor.

Allison Nora Gurn served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Martha Ellen Bruce; Mary Amanda Eloise Campbell; Nicole Smith Frier; Claire Hemphill Lawson, stepsister of the groom; Julia Elizabeth Shealor; Mary Margaret Skarupa; Julia Lawson Taylor, stepsister of the groom; Melissa Elizabeth Way, sister of the bride; and Elise Hope Williamson.

Flower girls were Kaelyn Nicole Way and Kendal Lee Way, nieces of the bride.

The groom’s brother Christopher Parker Mimms served as best man. Groomsmen were Taylor Regan Addison; Thomas Brock Cook; Thomas Lawson Gregg, cousin of the groom; Matthew Dean Griggs; Andrew Michael Hutto; James Spencer Verner McCants; Charles Stokes Shumpert; and Matthew Donald Way and Michael Robert Way, brothers of the bride.

Ring bearers were Austin Robert Way, Landon Michael Way, and Rylan Christopher Way, nephews of the bride.

Ushers were John Avriett Taylor Jr., brother-in-law of the groom; Zachary Robert Way, nephew of the bride; and Brendon Kenneth Wilson.

Music for the ceremony was provided by organist Ann Rodgers Chandler and bagpiper Samuel Jim Dillahey IV.

Following a wedding trip to Antigua, the couple will reside in Florence.
