Kackie Smith, William DaSilva marry
Katherine Lewis “Kackie” Smith and William Brooks DaSilva, both of Charlotte, North Carolina, were united in marriage Jan. 27 at First Presbyterian Church in Sumter. The Rev. Nicholas Theo Cheek officiated the 7 o’clock ceremony. A reception followed at Sunset Country Club.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Beasley Smith of Sumter. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Joseph Speed Williams of Sumter and the late Mr. Williams and Mrs. Edward Lewis Smith of Whiteville, North Carolina, and the late Mr. Smith. She graduated from Wilson Hall School in 2009 and Wofford College in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in finance and a minor in business. She is employed with Wells Fargo Middle Market Banking as relationship manager.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Paul Brandel of Greenville and Dr. and Mrs. Robert Mario Hale DaSilva of Columbia. He is the grandson of the late Mrs. Sarah McNeeley Mills and the late Dr. and Mrs. Ercia Mario DaSilva, all of Columbia. He graduated from Hammond School in 2009 and Wofford College in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in finance and a minor in business. He is employed with BB&T Government Finance as a sales officer.
The bride, who was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents, wore an heirloom veil also worn by her mother and grandmother.
Organist Hamilton Dabbs Stoddard, soloist and oboist Alex Michael Beaton, violinist Lauren Coffin Decker, bagpiper Greyson Hunter Holler, and trumpeter Evan Lewis Thompson provided music.
Maid of honor was the bride’s sister, Nancy Cameron Smith of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Bridesmaids were Anne Elizabeth Booke, Margaret Foerster Bratton, Sullivan Moore DaSilva, and Catharine Ellerbe Knight, all of Charlotte; Caroline Turner Cromer of Sumter; Stephanie James Gould of Greenville; Charlotte Maitland Horney of Spartanburg; Kelley Winston Jones of Columbia; Taylor Coryn Marcus of Orangeburg; Katherine Evelyn Sadler of New York; and Whitney Elizabeth Townes of Charleston.
Best man was the groom’s father. Groomsmen were Clifton Campbell Ayers of Washington; Taylor Stephen Brown of Atlanta; Justin LaHood Daniels of Modesto, California; Robert Hale DaSilva and Seth Leldon Knight IV, both of Charlotte; James Archibald Hardison V of Richmond, Virginia; Theodore Montague Malinowski and Timothy Brooks Owens, both of Charleston; George Hunter McMaster of New York; Frank Lockehart Rodgers of Columbia; and Peter Anderson Wilson of New Orleans.
Ushers were Charles Roman Bowers of Charleston and William Middleton IV and Thomas Preston Rives Middleton, both of Columbia. Greeters were Lauren Renee Bordeaux of Charleston and Lauren Lee Thompson of Columbia. Readers were McCauley Thornhill James and Andrew Mercer Yates, both of Raleigh, North Carolina.
After their honeymoon in South Africa, the couple will reside in Charlotte.
