Laura Varn, Robert Stevens to wed

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Varn Jr. of Columbia are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Laura Blaire Varn, to Robert Walker Groves Stevens, son of Mrs. William Johnson Stevens Jr. of Yonges Island and the late Mr. Stevens.

The bride-elect, a resident of Charleston, is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Varn Sr. of Mount Pleasant and the late Mr. and Mrs. John Trieste of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a master’s degree in accountancy from the College of Charleston. She is employed with the Medical University of South Carolina as a certified public accountant.

The bridegroom-elect, a resident of Charleston, is the grandson of Mrs. Robert Walker Groves of Savannah, Georgia, and the late Mr. Groves and the late Mr. and Mrs. William Johnson Stevens Sr. of Yonges Island. He earned a bachelor’s degree in mass communications from Lander University, and he is employed in marine transportation with Stevens Towing, Inc.

The couple plan an April wedding in Yonges Island.
