Laura Lane Hoover and Mark Dale Chappell Jr., both of Columbia, were united in marriage July 16 at Eastminster Presbyterian Church in Columbia. The Rev. Dr. James I. St. John and the Rev. John Robert Cook officiated the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Raynal Hoover Jr. of Columbia. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Peter Etheridge Lane Sr. of Columbia and the late Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Raynal Hoover Sr. of Salisbury, North Carolina. She earned a Bachelor of Science in elementary education from the College of Charleston, and she is employed as a first-grade teacher at Satchel Ford Elementary School.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Dale Chappell of Columbia. He is the grandson of Mrs. James Hodge Saye Jr. of Rock Hill and the late Mr. James Hodge Saye Jr.; the late Mrs. Ethel Grace Dodge Chappell of Rock Hill; and the late Mr. William Porter Chappell of Chester. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in business economics from Wofford College and a Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law. He is employed with Chappell, Smith and Arden, PA.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents. Music was provided by soloist Mr. Phillip Patrick Ashley and pianist Mr. Bill Johns. Readers were Meredith Sawyer Walker and William Griffin Starnes, both of Columbia.

Matrons of honor were Blair Bouknight Brading and Patricia Holder Ramage, both of Greenville. Bridesmaids were Erin Katherine Cauthen and Lane Nelson Chapman, both of Greenville; Elizabeth Grace Chappell and Michelle Hopkins Moore, both of Charleston; Maggie Raines Chappell, Sarah Kathleen McNeill and Kristen Thibodeaux Neal, all of Columbia; and Hollis Chappell Infanzon of Washington, D.C. Brooks Burns Wetmore of Charleston was junior bridesmaid. Jennifer Lane Risher of Charleston and Rebekah Jean Williams of Blythewood were honorary bridesmaids. Lindsey Cox Jones and Heather Louise Cox, both of Rock Hill, served as greeters.

Best men were Mark Dale Chappell and James Saye Chappell, both of Columbia. Groomsmen were Christopher Ryan Dalton and Caleb Mitchell Williams, both of Columbia; Edward Enwright Moore IV and Jonathan Werner Strauss, both of Charleston; William Joseph Ramage and Robert Hilton Starnes, both of Greenville; James Wade Infanzon of Washington, D.C.; and Richard Blanton Jordan of Atlanta. Ushers were James Augustus Herlong Jr., Robert Stevens Walker and Allen Nathaniel Wilkerson, all of Columbia; Ross Sentel Marley and David Douglass Moffatt, both of Charleston; and Marion Sadler Walker of Washington, D.C.

A reception followed at the Forest Lake Club.

After a honeymoon in a surprise location, the couple will reside in Columbia.
