Mary Mattox and Trey Hughey, both of West Columbia, were united in marriage May 7 at St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church in Chapin. The Rev. Randall Derrick and Deacon Ann Pilate officiated the 5 p.m. ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Judy Mattox and the late Donald Mattox of Chapin. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from Clemson University in 2012 and an MBA from the Darla Moore School of Business at University of South Carolina in 2016. She is employed with Hubbell Power Systems.
The groom is the son of Win and Rhonda Hughey of Little Mountain. A 2013 graduate of Clemson University with a Bachelor of Science in construction science management, he is employed with Bobbitt Design Build.
The bride was escorted by her mother.
Matron of honor was Kate Huelsman of Charlotte, North Carolina. Haddon Bugenske, also of Charlotte, was flower girl.
Best man was the groom’s father. Leo Bugenske of Chapin was ring bearer.
A reception followed at the Hall at Senate’s End.
After their honeymoon in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, the couple will reside in West Columbia.

A. We took the dog on a walk at the West Columbia Riverwalk, and he proposed.

A. The bride grew up going to that church.
