Katherine Judd, Rafael Ramos da Luz marry
Katherine Judd of Washington D.C., and Rafael Ramos da Luz of Brasilia, Brazil, were united in marriage July 23 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Brunswick, Maine. The Rev. Carolyn Eklund officiated the 3 p.m. ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Drs. Robert and Cristle Judd of New York and Brunswick. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Polly Judd of Columbia and the late Donald Judd. She earned a Bachelor of Arts from Wellesley College, and she was a Madeleine Albright Fellow. She earned a Master of Arts from Universidade de Brasilia, and she is employed as a communications analyst with the U.S. Agency for International Development.
The groom is the son of Angelo and Wania Garcez da Luz of Brasilia. He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Universidade de Brasilia, and he is employed as a finance and control analyst with the Comptrollelr General of Brazil.
The bride was escorted by her father, and the groom was escorted by his mother.
Maids of honor were the bride’s sisters, Hannah Judd of Philadelphia and Sara Judd of Boston. Bridesmaids were Christine Miller of San Francisco and Carolyn Posner of Washington. Bianca and Luiza Nepomuceno were flower girls.
Best man was Danilo Lobo of Rio de Janiero. Groomsmen were Andrey Perez, Eduardo Ramos and Kave Garcez, all of Brasilia.
Ushers were Claire and Brett Butler, cousins of the bride. Music was provided by organist Randy Day and trumpeters Craig Collins and Clay Collins, the bride’s uncles.
A 5 p.m. reception was at Mere Point in Brunswick, Maine.
After their honeymoon in Middle Bay, Maine, the couple will reside in Washington.

Q. How did you meet?
A. The couple met in Rio de Janeiro where the bride was working for a small nongovernment organization on community journalism, sustainable development, and urban planning.
Q. Tell us about the proposal.
A. The groom proposed on McAfee Knob, Virginia, while they were hiking.
Q. How did you choose the church where you were married?
A. The church was the parish church of the bride’s family.
Q. What was the significance of the music played during your ceremony?
A. Two uncles played the Stanley Voluntary for Two Trumpets and Organ for the processional. The bride’s sister, Hannah Judd, played the Bach Suite in G Major for Unaccompanied Cello for the prelude.
