Margaret Alison Courtney and Robert Edgar Wilder III, both of Mount Pleasant, were married on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at First Baptist Church in Charleston. The Rev. R. Marshall Blalock performed the ceremony.

The bride, who was escorted by her father, is the daughter of Mr. Michael Wayne Courtney of Timmonsville and Mrs. Nell Graham Folkens of Florence. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Tommy R. Graham of Olanta and Mrs. Freda Alice Courtney and the late Mr. Delano R. Courtney of Timmonsville.

The bride wore a custom Modern Trousseau gown made by designer Callie Tein at her Connecticut atelier. The gown is cut from an exquisite hand beaded French ribbon lace with off-shoulder neckline, covered buttons, and fit-to-flare silhouette. The gown also featured a detachable cathedral-length train and coordinating, custom-made cathedral-length lace veil. The bride’s bouquet was a tailored design of all white phalenopsis orchids.

The bride graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Science in retail management. She is employed as an interior design consultant with GDC Home in Mount Pleasant and as a real estate agent with Wilder Realty in Mount Pleasant.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Edgar Wilder Jr. of Columbia. He is the grandson of Mrs. Jean Bradham Jonte of Chapin, Mr. and Mrs. George B. McEwen Jr. of Sumter and Mr. Robert Edgar Wilder Sr. of Manning.

The groom graduated from the University of South Carolina, Darla Moore School of Business with a Bachelor of Science in business administration. He is managing partner of Blake Wilder Strategies and director of land acquisition at Blake Communities.

Matron of honor was Trudy Baker Nettles. Bridesmaids were Morgan Annsley Beard; Lindsay Bickers Courtney, sister-in law of the bride; Chandler Oaks Degenhart; Savannah Leigh Green; Anna Chandler King; Evanne Irene Kastrenakes; Mary Lauren Reddeck; Bailey Alexandra Sharpe; and Caroline McCauley Wilder, sister of the groom. Honorary bridesmaid was Mary Alison Burch. Flower girl was the groom’s cousin Afton Harper Steen.

Best man was the groom’s father. Groomsmen were Peyton O’Neil Barker; Michael Chase Courtney, brother of the bride; Jonathan Burnham Harpe; Ryan Aaron Joyner; George Vernon Laughrun III; Andrew Keith Pettit; Chad Stevens Stewart; Bradham Lee Wilder, brother of the groom; and David Alexander Wolfe. Ushers were Mauricus “Moe” Brown, Richard Eugene Conway III, John Alexander Franklin, Christopher Byron Graper, Brian Jeffrey Stern and Walter Brian Yarborough. Ring bearer was the bride’s cousin Liam Rogers Rotan.

Music was provided by vocalist Robert Dickson, organist Beverly Bradley, trumpeter Ken Mullin and violinist Rex Conner.

A reception followed at Lowndes Grove Plantation on the Ashley River in Charleston, where guests were entertained by a jazz duo during cocktail hour and The Maxx Band from Atlanta during the reception.

After a wedding trip to St. Barts in the West Indies, the couple will live in Mount Pleasant.
