Alex Rogers, William James marry
Sloan Alexandra Rogers of Chapin and William Dwyer James of Gaffney were united in marriage July 16 at Lake Murray Presbyterian Church in Chapin. The Rev. Dr. Ben Sloan officiated the 6 o’clock ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Eric and Melinda Rogers of Chapin. She is the granddaughter of Sam and Linda Diggle of Irmo and Lance and Shirley Rogers of Richmond, Virginia. She earned a Bachelor of Science in biology from Wofford College and a Master of Medical Science in physician assistant studies from Mercer University. She is employed as a physician assistant at OrthoNOW in Savannah, Georgia.
The groom is the son of Bill Jr. and Cynthia James of Gaffney. He is the grandson of Bill Sr. and Janet James of Prosperity and the late Gene and Helen Dwyer of Troy, Missouri. He earned a Bachelor of Science in biology from Wofford College and a Master of Health Administration from the University of South Carolina. He is employed as a financial analyst with Nancy N. and J.C. Lewis Cancer and Research Pavilion in Savannah, Georgia.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents. Organist Sara Beardsley provided music.
Maid of honor was Larkin Rogers of Chapin. Bridesmaids were Laura Edwards and Jessica Beck, both of Atlanta; Anna Beth Pruitt of Hoschton, Georgia; Evi Lakis of Fayetteville, North Carolina; and Allison Hoffman of Spartanburg. Ellison Harris of Chapin was acolyte, and Kate Harris of Chapin was crucifer. Asthon Diggle and Sloan Diggle, both of Chapin, were program attendants.
Best man was the groom’s father. Groomsmen were Nick Bullock of Yazoo City, Mississippi; Daniel Hall of Easley; John DuBose of Greenville; Jim Allen Shuman of Columbia; and Jonathan Crossley of Little Rock, Arkansas. Corbin Diggle of Chapin was usher.
A reception followed at Stone River in West Columbia.
After their honeymoon in St. Maarten, the couple will reside in Savannah, Georgia.

Q. How did you meet?
A. In college as freshman lab partners.
Q. Tell us about the proposal.
A. William proposed along Bluff Drive in Savannah, Georgia, overlooking the marsh at sunset while walking our dog before dinner. Knowing it was important for family to be involved, both families were hiding inside a nearby home to surprise me after the proposal.
Q. How did you choose the church where you were married?
A. This was the bride’s childhood church which she has been attending since first grade.
