Jim and Judy Shirey celebrate 60th anniversary

Jim and Judy Shirey of West Columbia soon will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary. They were married Sept. 8, 1956, at Central Church of the Nazarene in West Columbia, where they still attend.

Their children are Michael (Nancy), Janet (Larry), Karen (Greg) and David. They have seven grandchildren – Chris (Jenn), Tyler (Nikki), Kelly (Justin), Chad, Cody, Stephanie (Jesse), and Tabitha – and seven great-grandchildren – Jayden, Hailey, Zoe, Brandon, Ever, Sabrina and Andrew.

Their children marked their 60th anniversary with a celebration Sept. 3 at their church.

Q: How did you meet?

A: At the church they still attend.

Q: What was your favorite part of your wedding day?

A: When they left for their honeymoon at Chimney Rock, North Carolina. They spent the night in Greenville, then left for the mountains.

Q: What do you wish you’d known your first year of marriage?

A: Get by on what you have, and don’t go into debt.

Q: Tell us about a favorite moment in your marriage.

A: When I said “I do.”
