Basketball ticket options abound for USC women’s Greensboro Regional
The University of South Carolina women’s basketball team will be looking to punch its ticket to the Final Four during the NCAA Greensboro Regional this weekend, and faithful fans have many options to buy tickets to one or both rounds.
No. 1 seeded USC will play either North Carolina or Ohio State at 7 p.m. or 9:30 p.m. Friday — the NCAA is expected to slot the games by Tuesday morning — at the Greensboro Coliseum. The winner will advance to the regional finals at noon Sunday.
Fans should have no trouble securing a seat in the 22,000-seat Greensboro arena but should buy their tickets early to ensure the best spots.
▪ The women’s basketball department is sponsoring bus trip ticket packages to Greensboro Friday and Sunday that will include special reserved seating.
▪ Fans can purchase separate round-trip tickets for $60 that include bus transportation, reserved seat game tickets, soft drinks and light snacks. The tickets will be on the bottom level as close to the team as possible.
▪ On Friday the buses will leave from the Key Road parking lot by Williams-Brice Stadium at 2 p.m., with a brief stop at a rest area, and are scheduled to arrive in Greensboro by 5:30 p.m. The arena doors open at 6 p.m. The buses will depart for Columbia 30 minutes after the end of the second game.
▪ On Sunday, if the Gamecocks win Friday, buses will leave the Key Road parking lot at 7 a.m., make a brief stop at a rest area, and are scheduled to arrive in Greensboro by 10:30 am. The arena doors open at 11 a.m., and the game begins at noon. The buses will depart for Columbia 30 minutes after the end of the game.
▪ Reservations can be made by emailing dpalmer@mailbox.sc.edu or calling (803) 777-0371. Cash or check reservation payments must be dropped off by Wednesday to the basketball office, 1051 Blossom St. (at the Assembly Street corner) between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m.
▪ Additionally, fans can buy individual game tickets online from the Greensboro Coliseum at greensborocoliseum.com or the NCAA at ncaa.com/tickets. Prices range from the mid $30s to the mid $50s per session, including taxes and fees
A limited number of tickets also were available at stubhub.com where individual sessions are priced $40-$60.
▪ The Gamecock Club and My Carolina Alumni Association invite fans to Stamey’s BBQ, the official Gamecock headquarters in Greensboro, 4-6:30 p.m. Friday. The restaurant is located across the street from the Greensboro Coliseum.
