PSC schedules hearing on SCE&G construction cost request
The state Public Service Commission has scheduled a public hearing for Oct. 4 on South Carolina Electric & Gas Co.’s request to revise the cost of building two reactors at the V.C. Summer Nuclear Plant in Jenkinsville.
SCE&G earlier this month reached a proposed settlement with state regulators and several parties that contested the company’s request for an increase. Under the proposed settlement, the company would cut its latest requested increase in the construction cost to $831 million. Also, Westinghouse Electric’s portion of the additional costs would be fixed at $505 million. SCE&G shareholders or Westinghouse would pay for any overruns.
Overall, the project is expected to cost $11 billion.
The Oct. 4 hearing will begin at 6 p.m. and will be held at the Public Service Commission hearing room, 101 Executive Center Drive, in the Saluda Building. The office is near I-20 and Bush River Road.
