SCANA-owned property in Cayce at the Interstate 77 and 12th Street Extension interchange is under contract for a sale, company officials said Friday.

No other details were made available, but the property – part of SCANA’s 260-acre Otarre Pointe development – has for nearly a year been under close consideration by a Vermont company for a massive outlet mall.

Columbia Capital Outlets is being planned next door to SCANA’s headquarters at the interchange, about 11 minutes from downtown Columbia. Few details are known about which businesses the proposed outlet mall may have attracted so far.

The outlet mall is a joint venture with Paris Projects in Charlotte, according to EB Development. Keith Paris, of Paris Projects, had no comment Friday on whether the SCANA property is under contract to his development company, though he has identified himself as the mall’s developer in the past.

EB Development, an outlet mall leasing and management company, has advertised Columbia Capital Outlets on its website for several months, describing it as “Columbia, S.C.’s new destination for outlet savings.”

Cayce Mayor Elise Partin said Friday no plans have as yet been submitted to the city on the proposed mall.
