Schmick receives national leadership award for dropout prevention efforts

Mary jo Schmick was selected to receive the National Workforce Development Leadership Award presented by the Jobs for America Graduates recently in Washington, D.C. Schmick is director of workforce programs for the S.C. Department of Employment and Workforce. Jobs for America Graduates is a dropout prevention program focused on academic success and career-readiness skills, administered in South Carolina by the DEW. The award is presented each year to celebrate leadership and support for the JAG program, helping high-risk and disadvantaged young people succeed in school as well as in pursuit of a career and/or postsecondary education.
