Midlands People & Achievements: Dr. Vincent Degenhart

Dr. Vincent Degenhart has received the South Carolina Medical Association Physician of the Year Award for Community Service as well as the Order of the Palmetto. The Order of the Palmetto is the state’s highest honor given to a civilian. Both awards recognize his role in the campaign to end childhood obesity in South Carolina. Degenhart, a Columbia anesthesiologist, is chairman of the South Carolina Childhood Obesity Taskforce, which he founded in 2011.
