He’s the best paid CEO in SC. How much does he make?

John D. Williams of Fort Mill’s Domtar Corp. is the highest-paid CEO in South Carolina at $7.2 million, according to calculations by the Associated Press and Equilar, an executive data firm.

Williams has been president and CEO of Domtar since January 2009, according to the company’s website. The company produces a variety of fiber-based products including communication, speciality and packaging papers, market pulp and absorbent hygene products, according to the website, domtar.com.

The survey considered only publicly traded companies with more than $1 billion in revenue that filed their proxy statements with federal regulators between Jan. 1 and May 1. It includes CEOs who have been in place for at least two years. To calculate CEO pay, Equilar adds salary, bonus, stock awards, stock option awards, deferred compensation and other components that include benefits and perks.
