Trail mix sold online and at stores nationwide recalled
The threat of bacterial contamination of some of the ingredients used in trail mix products has prompted the recall of a “limited number of products containing Organic and Natural dates” a New Jersey company announced on Tuesday.
The various trail mix products sold under the names Nature’s Promise, Woodstock, Market Basket and Wholesome Pantry, contain dates that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, United Natural Trading LLC said in a news release.
The recall was issued as a precaution, the company said. There have been no reports of illness.

Listeria can cause serious, sometimes fatal, illness in the very young and elderly frail. It can also cause miscarriage or stillbirths in pregnant women.
