Haley calls for union defeat
Gov. Nikki Haley said she will keep urging South Carolina Boeing workers to reject a union in the weeks before the April 22 union vote.
Haley spoke against the Machinists union during a Wednesday appearance in Summerville. She has said S.C. workers don’t need a middleman between them and their employers. She said her message for the union is to get out, that Boeing came to South Carolina without them and does not need them now.
The union said it will be talking to workers at their homes and at the union hall.

McDonald’s sets wage policy
A pay bump for workers at some McDonald’s restaurants isn’t likely to ease the pressures the chain is facing over labor issues.
McDonald’s said Wednesday it would raise wages for workers at its company-owned U.S. restaurants, which represent only about 10 percent of more than 14,300 locations. It also said it would offer paid time off for some workers.
The move marks the first time McDonald’s has set a national policy on wages, according to the company, and comes after it has been a primary target for ongoing demonstrations for pay of $15 and a union.
