Free tax preparation for Midlands low-income filers
The Cooperative Ministry and the United Way of the Midlands are offering volunteer income tax assistance this weekend.
Volunteer Income Tax Assistance services, also known as VITA, will be available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Cooperative Mnistry, 3821 West Beltline Blvd.; Shandon Baptist Church, 5250 Forest Dr.; and Hyatt Park, 917 Jackson Ave.
Social security cards and valid IDs are required and clients will be served on a first come first served basis.
The goal is to help low- and moderate-income wage earners obtain free federal and state income tax filing assistance, and to identify other assistance for which they may be eligible.
