One of Greenville’s iconic restaurants announced it was permanently closing after Friday’s happy hour.

Owned by Homegrown Hospitality Group, Liberty Tap Room has been a fixture in Greenville’s West End for 14 years. It opened the year after its neighbor, Fluor Field, home to Greenville’s minor league baseball team, which supplied a lot of the restaurant’s clientele.

The two Liberty restaurants in the Midlands — on in Columbia’s Vista and another on Lake Murray in Irmo — are not closing, company employees said Friday.

Liberty Tap Room Greenville announced the closing on Facebook, saying the company was grateful for employees and the community for their support.

A spokesperson for Homegrown Hospitality in Charleston did not immediately return a phone call Friday seeking more information.

Husk Barbeque restaurant, also in the West End, closed earlier this month. Charleston-based Husk expanded to Greenville in 2017, closed for six months due to COVID-19 and reopened in December after rebranding as a barbecue restaurant.
