Popular Charleston bar opening on Columbia’s Main Street with holiday-themed pop-up
A popular Charleston bar is expanding to Columbia’s Main Street, and they’re kicking off with a special holiday-themed pop up next week.
Prohibition is moving into the space formerly occupied by the Main Street Public House at 1556 Main St. The 1920s-themed cocktail bar has been a fixture on Charleston’s Upper King Street for the past decade, and is now bringing its award-winning selections to the capital city.
To celebrate, the bar is offering a special seasonal offering when it opens its doors Monday. The owners are licensing with Miracle Pop-Up to bring a Christmas-themed cocktail bar to Columbia as the Miracle on Main.
“I think the best way to describe it is Santa Claus walked into the building, sneezed, and everything looks like Christmas,” said Tyler Rothenberg, a Miracle on Main partner working on the concept with Prohibition.
The Miracle pop-up, which appear during the chilly season in cities around the country and Canada, offer specialty drinks with names like the Christmaspolitan and Run Run Rudolph, each served in a specific holiday vessel. Rothenberg is partial to the Yippee Ki-Yay (it’s full name is unprintable, but familiar to fans of the Christmas classic Die Hard).
“We found an opportunity to provide this cool, over-the-top Christmas experience to greet our new friends and family” in Columbia, Rothenberg said.
While its hours are still being finalized, the plan is for Miracle on Main to operate from 11 a.m. until late through the end of December, with Prohibition taking over with their normal menu in the New Year.
