$3M headquarters to locate in a historic building in this SC city
A hospice provider will invest $3 million and create 76 jobs in a corporate headquarters in Spartanburg’s historic Montgomery Building.
Agape Care Group, which besides hospice offers palliative and pediatric care, will use the 13,000-square-foot space in the 10-story building. It is one of Spartanburg’s iconic buildings and sat empty and deteriorating for years until a 2018 renovation.
Now it is a mixed-use development of restaurants, retail, apartments and offices at the edge of Spartanburg’s central business district.
Agape Care Group said the jobs created will primarily be knowledge-based and other skilled clerical positions.
The headquarters is expected to be ready in May 2022.
“Substantial growth over the last few years has necessitated a larger corporate headquarters. We were drawn to all the downtown Spartanburg area offers and are excited about our ability to recruit and retain top talent with our new offices in the historic Montgomery Building,” Agape Care Group CEO Troy Yarborough said in a news release issued by Gov. Henry McMaster’s office.
“It is a testament to the excellence of our state when a company decides to establish their headquarters in South Carolina. We welcome Agape Care Group to their new home and celebrate the 76 new jobs they are bringing to the downtown Spartanburg area.” McMaster said.
David Britt, Spartanburg county councilman and chairman of the Economic Development Committee, said, the “project is a great example of the city of Spartanburg and Spartanburg County working together to attract high-wage jobs.”
