Executive Personal Computers Inc., described as one of the largest information technology disposal companies in the world, will expand new operations in Lexington County.

The $9.5 million investment will create 133 jobs in the Midlands, according to a news release.

“We’re proud to grow our relationship with Columbia and the great state of South Carolina,” EPC President Pat Laughlin said in a news release. “We’re looking forward to our continued growth together.”

The new 203,000-square-foot facility on Bush River Road is located in what used to be a Walmart. It will serve as the company’s East Coast hub and accommodate more production.

Gov. Henry McMaster and Secretary of Commerce Harry M. Lightsey III congratulated the company on the development. Scott Whetstone, Lexington County Council Chairman, said he was excited to have EPC in Lexington.

“EPC Inc.’s growth is further proof that South Carolina is evolving into a hub for technology-focused companies,” McMaster said in a news release. “Our highly skilled workforce speaks volumes to why businesses invest in the state.”

Operations are expected to be finished by the first quarter of 2023.
