Zoo eatery among ‘greenest’
Tuskers Restaurant at Riverbanks Zoo and Garden has been recognized as one of the greenest dining establishments in South Carolina by the Green Restaurant Association.
The national nonprofit, founded in 1990 to advance green practices within the food service industry, issued Tuskers a 3 Star designation after a year-long evaluation of its environmental responsibility. The organization studied energy and water efficiency, disposables and chemical and pollution reduction, among other criteria.
IN BRIEF
▪ From the receptionist that does the check-in and checkout to the porter that’s an automated trolley taking luggage up to the room, a hotel in southwestern Japan, aptly called Weird Hotel, is “manned” almost totally by robots to save labor costs.
▪ The producer price index, which measures the costs of goods and services before they reach consumers, increases 0.4 percent in June.
▪ The FAO Schwarz toy store on New York City’s Fifth Avenue is closing its doors for good – though it may reopen elsewhere in midtown Manhattan.
▪ Delta Air Lines’ second-quarter profit nearly doubled, to $1.5 billion, as huge savings on fuel offset weak growth in revenue.
