Spartanburg eatery to open rooftop bar

A popular sushi restaurant in downtown Spartanburg plans to roll out a new location that will feature the city's first rooftop bar. Miyako Sushi Group has purchased the former Magnolia Street Pawn Shop at 118 Magnolia St. beside the space the restaurant has leased since its inception in 2000. Miyako's owner, Josh Lee, said the pawn shop will be demolished to make way for new construction that will include a 5,000-square-foot dining room on the ground floor, and a 2,800-square-foot bar and 2,000-square-foot patio upstairs.

▪ Spinx, a South Carolina based convenience store retailer, on Friday announced a new business management program open to students working toward a business degree. The program is designed to provide students experience and a career opportunity, as well as tuition reimbursement and weekly paychecks. ▪ Oconee Federal Financial Corp., the Seneca-based holding company for Oconee Federal Savings and Loan Association, reported fourth-quarter net income of $1.2 million, or 21 cents per diluted share, for the three months ended June 30. That compared with net income of $854,000, or 15 cents per diluted share, in the year-earlier period. For the year, the company reported net income of $4.5 million, or 78 cents per diluted share, compared with net income of $3.6 million, or 64 cents per diluted share, a year earlier.

▪ ScanSource Inc., the Greenville-based international distributor of specialty technology products, on Thursday announced a new management structure for its business in Europe. Ian Vickerage was named president of ScanSource Communications, Europe, where he will lead all of ScanSource’s communications operations across the continent. Rudy De Meirsman will continue as managing director of ScanSource Communications, company officials said. Maurice Van Rijn has been named president of ScanSource POS and Barcode, Europe, where he will continue to lead the company’s pan-European point-of-sale and barcode business.
