Florida company to open Abbeville plant
A Florida company that makes enclosures for generators that are designed to withstand hurricanes is expanding in South Carolina, investing $2.3 million and creating almost 50 jobs. Advanced Manufacturing & Power Systems, based in Deland, Florida, announced Wednesday that it will open the new plant in leased space in Abbeville. The plant is expected to be fully operating in January and the jobs will be created during the next five years.

▪ Wells Fargo said it will relocate about 350 mortgage-servicing employees from uptown Charlotte to Fort Mill. Relocated employees will work on Stateview Boulevard in York County, where Wells Fargo already has a large mortgage operation. No layoffs are expected with the moves, which are expected to start early next year, the company said.
▪ Target says its sales rose 1.9 percent at established locations in the third quarter as it worked to revive its business by strengthening flagship categories such as clothing and children’s products. Still, the uptick was a slowdown from the previous quarter, when sales rose 2.4 percent at established locations. Growth of digital sales also slowed to 20 percent, and fell short of the company’s expectations. Previously, Target had forecast digital growth of 30 percent for the period.
▪ Volkswagen is expected to announce substantial spending cuts on Friday as the carmaker braces for the financial impact of its emissions-cheating crisis – potentially setting up a confrontation with its powerful labor representatives. Volkswagen also faces a Friday deadline to inform regulators in the United States of how it plans to bring its diesel cars there into compliance with air-quality standards.
