Plans to bring dozens of townhomes to a residential subdivision in north Columbia are set to go before the city's planning panel Monday.

A proposed single-family housing development would bring 63 attached townhomes to a 4.6-acre lot nestled between Elmwood Cemetery and the Columbia Canal just north of downtown Columbia.

The proposed site is on the western edge of the existing Canal Place subdivision, which includes mostly single-family houses, on a street that runs parallel to the Columbia Canal. Each lot will contain approximately 1,600 square feet, according to site plans.

Lloyd Liles, a real estate investor who owns the property, said he is still looking for a developer to build the homes. Two or three parties are already interested, he said.

City staff has recommended approval of the plans.
