Midlands people and achievements: Betty Plumb

Betty Plumb, executive director of the S.C. Arts Alliance for 25 years, has received the Nonprofit Advocacy Award from the South Carolina Association of Nonprofit Organizations. Plumb, who is retiring from the S.C. Arts Alliance in September, is credited with transforming the grassroots advocacy organization into the most influential champion of the arts in South Carolina. Plumb, of Rock Hill, helped build the S.C. Legislative Arts Caucus, one of the most effective legislative advocacy endeavors in the state, by bringing in about 120 out of 170 members.
