People and Achievements: Smith hired as Lexington Medical Center human resources chief

Brian D. Smith is the new vice president of human resources at Lexington Medical Center. He will oversee areas including employment, benefits, compensation, staff development, employee health and volunteers for the hospital. Smith has more than 20 years of experience in health care and previously was employed by Rex Healthcare Inc. in Raleigh, N.C. Additionally, he has been an adjunct faculty member at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Public Health training nursing home administrators. Smith earned his undergraduate degree and a Master of Healthcare Administration with a concentration in finance from UNC.
