Shop Around: Smoothies to the Vista; Cici’s leaves Garners Ferry

A smoothie franchise is hoping smoothies will be king in the Vista.

Smoothie King will open at 1205 Lincoln St. this summer in the former Tutti Frutti frozen yogurt shop. Tutti Fruitti had occupied the space since November 2011 and closed early this year. Smoothie King first branched into the Midlands with the opening of its 4601 Forest Drive location last April.

The original Smoothie King opened as Smoothie Bar in New Orleans in 1973. With the goal of creating healthy beverages by mixing nutrients, proteins and grains with fresh fruits and vegetables, the franchise slogan quickly became "Smoothies with a purpose."

In addition to the Forest Drive location, nine other Smoothie King franchises are located in South Carolina from Charleston to Easley. More than 650 are located worldwide.

Cici's Pizza closing Midlands location

Midlands fans of Cici's Pizza will now have to drive to either Village of Sandhill or St. Andrews Road for their bargain pizza buffet fix after the location at the Shoppes at Woodhill on Garners Ferry Road closed this month.

Cici's now operates 11 locations in South Carolina.
