Former Gamecock Tommy Suggs’ insurance firm sold to Chicago company
South Carolina-based KeenanSuggs Insurance Inc. has been sold to Hub International Limited.
KeenanSuggs and the Chicago-based based firm announced Wednesday that the deal will close Monday. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Tommy Suggs, chief executive of KeenanSuggs, will join Hub as chief executive of the Carolinas region for Hub Southeast. KeenanSuggs’ Mitch Watson will also join Hub Southeast’s Carolinas region as chief operations officer. Suggs, a former USC quarterback, led the Gamecocks to their only conference title, the 1969 ACC Championship.
He also provides color commentary on the USC football radio broadcasts.
“The addition of KeenanSuggs is a game-changing event for Hub Southeast and our Carolina presence,” Mike Chapman, chief executive of Hub Southeast, said in a news release. “I look forward to working with Tommy and Mitch and welcome their great team and customers as part of the continued growth of the Southeast region.”
Suggs said “the combination with Hub is a natural progression for our firm. “
KeenanSuggs has offices in Columbia, Greenville and Charleston in South Carolina and Raleigh in North Carolina. It provides multi-line insurance including property and casualty, employee benefits and risk services throughout the Southeast.
