Hwy 55 Burgers, Shakes & Fries opens new location
Hwy 55 Burgers, Shakes & Fries opens doors to its newest location at 828 Hwy. 1 in Lugoff today.
The Lugoff location will mark the chain's 16th in South Carolina with two other Midlands-area locations in Irmo at 1180 Dutch Fork Rd. and in Lexington at 1792 S. Lake Drive.
"Lugoff is less than 30 miles from Columbia so we chose this location knowing that the suburbs will continue to grow and spread. This community is attractively stable for a new business with a good future outlook," said Doug Campbell franchisee owner of the Lugoff location and University of South Carolina alum. “Lugoff still has that small-town feel so we know Hwy 55's family-friendly concept and dedication to authentic hospitality will fit right in."
Founded in Goldsboro, N.C., in 1991, Hwy 55 Burgers is a retro-themed, open-grill design diner with freshly made, hand-partied burgers and house-made frozen custard. At least an additional 50 new locations are slated for South Carolina in the next 10 years, according to company representatives. Currently, there are 128 locations spread across 10 states, Denmark and the United Arab Emirates.
During the first three days of business at the new Lugoff location, Hwy 55’s Andy’s Charitable Foundation and the local franchise owners will donate 10 percent of sales to the Boys and Girls Club of the Midlands.
