Locally and globally handmade artisan jewelry and accessories will soon be for sale in downtown Columbia at Sunday & Co.--a new shop located at 1520 Main St.

“Some of it is locally made but we will also feature some Israeli artists and some jewelers from Paris and Italy,” said Sunday & Co. owner and Columbia resident Heidi Reidman. “I am personally selecting each piece and it will all be handmade.”

A muralist, Reidman was inspired by her sister to open her own shop but she wanted to wait for the right location.

“I decided to take care of all of my legal issues and get incorporated and just be ready when the right space became available,” said Reidman, who named the shop in memory and honor of her late horse, Classic Sunday. “I thought I wanted to be in Five Points but a year down the road I’m at Soda City and I see this sign that said ‘For rent’ and a week later I signed the lease on the space at Main Street. There’s such a vibrancy there now. I knew it’s where I was supposed to be.”

In addition to jewelry and accessories, Sunday & Co. will feature reclaimed and upcycled jeans and clothing and Greenville-made Billiam Jeans--a company that gives 20 percent of its profits to support efforts against human trafficking.

“Billiam actually inspired me to have my own business be one that gives back and follow the whole industry-to-advocacy mindset,” Reidman said. “I’m going to have certain portions of sales of different lines of products go to support different foundations and charities that are close to my heart.”

Reidman plans to open Sunday & Co. on Nov. 1.
