Freddy’s Steakburgers opens on Sunset

Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers opens Tuesday at 2879 Sunset Blvd. across from Lexington Medical Center in West Columbia.

The opening marks the second one for Freddy’s in the Midlands. The first Freddy’s opened at 457 Killian Rd. on Valentine’s Day.

“It’s been an exciting several months since the opening of our first Freddy’s in Columbia,” said Brett Rickert, franchise owner. “With the opening of a second area Freddy’s, we’re prepared to serve guests in West Columbia with the same friendly service and great taste they’ve come to love at our Killian Road location.”

The 3,000 square-foot, freestanding restaurant seats 96 guests and has additional seating on the patio. Drive-thru service is also available. Hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Menu items include steakburgers, Vienna Beef hot dogs and shoestrings fries, as well as dessert treats prepared with a choice of chocolate or vanilla frozen custard that is churned fresh the day throughout.

“Guests often ask about our most popular menu item,” said Rickert. “We’re known for our Original Double, which starts with two steakburger patties that we press thin on a flat grill and sear until the edges are crispy. The burger is topped with two slices of cheese, onions, pickle planks and mustard, all served on a toasted bun. If you’re a first-time guest, we recommend you give it a try and finish off your meal with our Signature Turtle Sundae.”

Co-founded in 2002 by Scott Redler and Bill, Randy and Freddy Simon, Freddy’s opened its first location in Wichita, Kan., offering cooked-to-order steakburgers, Chicago dogs and other savory items along with its signature desserts prepared with frozen custard churned fresh throughout the day.

Today, 269 Freddy's restaurants serve a total of 30 states.
