Locally owned Lexington restaurant and lounge closes
After just four years in business, The Crescent Moon restaurant and lounge has closed in Lexington.
“Thank you for your support for the last 4 years! Unfortunately we are closed for business effective immediately,” reads a sign posted on the restaurant door by the management.
Located at 2361 Augusta Hwy. in Wildcat Plaza near the intersection of Highway 1 and Pisgah Church Road, Crescent Moon was majority owned and operated by Jim Thompson, a local restauranteur who also owns and operates Belly’s Southern Pride BBQ across from Lexington High School.
Thompson’s goal for Crescent Moon was to create a “casual upscale dining” atmosphere featuring steaks, seafood and Southern favorites.
“The Crescent Moon opened with the idea of having a local restaurant where you could get a quality steak at an affordable price,” Thompson told The State in a 2015 interview. “We wanted to have a place that would not only be known for the quality of the food but a place where the local community could come after work to socialize in our lounge with people they knew in a Cheers-type atmosphere.”
