A popular locally owned chain restaurant that sustained a kitchen fire last week plans to reopen, according to the restaurant’s Facebook page.

Fire was reported Thursday night, Jan. 18, just before 9 p.m. at the Miyos located at 3250 Forest Drive and was extinguished 30 minutes later. The fire was contained inside the restaurant’s cooking ventilation, according to the fire department.

According to the restaurant’s Facebook page, however, owner Michelle Wang who operates Miyo’s under her M Restaurant Group, plans to reopen the restaurant.

“Due to the fire last night, we are temporarily closed for investigation and restoration,” the Facebook post reads. “We will try to reopen soon! Please visit M Vista or Miyo’s of Sandhills while we are closed. We apologize for any inconvenience!”

According to the M Restaurant Group website,the business operates five Miyo’s in the Midlands including the Forest Drive location, as well as five additional M Group restaurants.
