Shop Around: Fireflies shop opens in time for Christmas
Fans planning to support the Columbia Fireflies minor league baseball team can now stock up on Fireflies merchandise and apparel at the team's new retail store at 807 Gervais St. in the Vista. The store features everything from hats and T-shirts with glow-in-the-dark team logos to mason jars featuring the Fireflies image. Opening day for the Fireflies season is April 14.
Five Points welcomed The Swept Yard at 2004 Blossom St. last week. Owners Robert Jennings and Jeffrey Hall bring more than 20 years of experience in custom outdoor living and design to the shop, which offers an eclectic mix of garden ornaments, reclaimed antiques, bathing brushes, French candles, household tools and more. The Swept Yard is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
Yoga Flow Studios opened in mid-November at 3121 Millwood Ave. An affiliate of Jamie Scott Fitness, Yoga Flow Studios offers traditional yoga classes, yoga with weights and warm power Vinyasa flow yoga — yoga that connects breath and movement in a warm (80- to 85-degree) environment. Jamie Scott Fitness launched in Columbia in 2008 as a small personal training and corporate wellness consulting business. Since then, it has grown into a boutique gym located in Cross Hill Market. It also has opened SWEAT, an indoor cycling studio on Lady Street in downtown Columbia. Another SWEAT location is set to open in Charlotte later this month.
